Mind Mastery

This is a Wellbeing program designed for primary school students to encourage their development of Resilience, Social and Emotional Literacy, Empathy and Positive Thought Patterns.

It is connected to the Victorian Curriculum.
It is designed for use in the first term of school as students transition into the school routine each year.  Currently 6 Sessions have been created but it is flexible.

The program utilises the theories behind Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy, Zones of Regulation and Positive Thinking.

The program also incorporates ideas from the resources listed below.

You will find the program in the link on the right.

**Any teacher who wishes to use this program really should read the book, "Mind your Mind" by Julie Johansen and Leigh Hay.

Mind Your Mind

Mind your Mind is a book written by Julie Johansen and Leigh Hay which explains Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy.  This is related to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy which can be used to help more positive thinking patterns.

For more information on positive thinking patterns, Martin Seligman has written some great books; "Learned Optimism", "Authentic Happiness", "The Optimistic Child" and "Flourish".

Martin Seligman is also known as the founder of Positive Psychology.

Zones of Regulation

The Zones of Regulation is a program designed by Leah M. Kuypers to help children learn to regulate their emotions and therefore enhance classroom behaviour management.

A Zones of Regulation game that is used in the Mind Mastery program is demonstrated in the video clip found at the link below:

The game above used emotions cards which can be found in the link to your right.

Have you filled a bucket today?

This is a great picture book explaining how our actions affect others.  It therefore stimulates empathy.  Many people have used it to encourage students to positively make a difference for others in little things they can do.
